James Rutigliano Inducted into Alpha Epsilon Lambda National Honor Society

2012 Jun 12

Saint Joseph's University's Omega chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Lambda (AEL) honor society inducted Lanoka Harbor resident James Rutigliano, a graduate student in Psychology, in May. Academic achievement, leadership and service are the criteria for induction.

Established in 1990, AEL is the nation's only society established exclusively for graduate students. To be eligible, students must demonstrate leadership through involvement in on- or off-campus activities while pursuing their degree, and must academically place in the top 35 percent of the University's graduate students.

AEL's Omega chapter at Saint Joseph's, which inducts new members annually, is currently one of 37 university chapters nationwide. Rutigliano was one of 305 students inducted into the Omega chapter this year.

Background: Founded by the Society of Jesus in 1851, Saint Joseph's University advances the professional and personal ambitions of men and women by providing a demanding, yet supportive, educational experience. One of only 152 schools with a Phi Beta Kappa chapter and AACSB business school accreditation, Saint Joseph's is home to 4,650 traditional undergraduate day students, 700 College of Professional and Liberal Studies adult undergraduates, and 3,600 graduate and doctoral students. Steeped in the 450-year Jesuit tradition of scholarship and service, Saint Joseph's was named to the 2012 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for General Community Service. The University strives to be recognized as the preeminent Catholic comprehensive university in the Northeast.
