Ashley Goyette of Rouses Point, a Saint Joseph's University Graduate, Joins Social Justice Initiative

Saint Joseph's University is pleased to announce that Rouses Point, N.Y. , resident Ashley Goyette, who recently graduated with a B.S. in Psychology, has joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.

This year, 35 members of Saint Joseph's Class of 2014 joined 14 local, national or international service programs that offer the opportunity to work full-time for social justice causes. Program placements include the Peace Corps, the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and ACESJU, the Alliance for Catholic Education at Saint Joseph's University. Time commitments range from one-to-three years. In addition, two members of the Class of 2013 have joined volunteer programs, which brings the total number of SJU grads joining service organizations this year to 37.

Goyette will work with Youth Challenge in Cleveland, Ohio

"As a Jesuit, Catholic university, our mission inspires our students to serve a faith that does justice," says University President C. Kevin Gillespie, S.J.'72. "This credo informs all that we do at Saint Joseph's, and is realized in our extraordinary Campus Ministry community service and Faith-Justice Institute service-learning programs. I'm grateful that these graduates are dedicating the next one-to-three years to serving others and the greater good."
